I express my extreme disappointment regarding the treatment for the stray kitten received at your clinic on March 13, 2025 by Dr. Atapattu, and the unacceptable response from your team following her unexpected passing. On March 13, I brought in a weak stray kitten for urgent medical attention. Your team assessed her and informed me that her temperature was normal but that she was dehydrated. Dr. Atapattu administered saline and prescribed some medications, advising me to bring her back the following morning for further care. However, within just five minutes of leaving the clinic, the kitten unexpectedly passed away. I attempted to contact the clinic immediately, but my calls went unanswered. When I finally reached your team the next morning, I was appalled by the dismissive and unempathetic response I received. Instead of offering any explanation or condolences, I was simply told not to worry about her death. This level of indifference is highly unprofessional and deeply distressing. As a veterinary team, I expected compassion, responsibility, and clear communication, none of which were demonstrated. The dismissive attitude toward the kitten’s passing is unacceptable. I will not be returning to your clinic, and I feel it is my responsibility to warn others about my experience. I sincerely hope that no one else has to go through what I did.

Awful doctor. Very careless. Two of my cats died because this doctor made it a habit to prescribe extra strong medication, even for kittens. He is extremely money minded and only cares about how much he can earn per patient. Was on the phone when treating my kitten. The 4 month old kitten was fine two days ago and now he's dead. I would sue if I could. Absolutely disgusted. NEVER TAKE YOUR CATS TO THIS MAN IF YOU VALUE THEIR LIFE

Dr. Atapattu’s handling of my daughter’s pet hamster was completely unacceptable. Our winter white dwarf hamster, who had a swollen hand, was taken to him for treatment. Despite never biting anyone before, she bit him when he handled her. Instead of responding professionally, he threw her across the room. She fell from about 5 feet away and was unconscious for 15–30 seconds due to the shock. I had called beforehand to confirm he could treat such a small animal. Yet after examining her—and shockingly throwing her across the room—he claimed he couldn’t do anything. He only made her condition worse. Small animals like hamsters are incredibly fragile and cannot handle such trauma, yet he showed no concern for his action. To make matters worse, he still handed me a bill. I refused to pay, as he did nothing but harm her. While my 6-year-old daughter and I were waiting for our ride, he asked us to leave. We did so immediately, deeply disappointed by the complete lack of care and professionalism. I will never recommend Dr. Atapattu or Colombo South Animal Hospital to anyone.

I highly recommend choosing the experienced doctor at this animal hospital. I don’t know his name, but he’s easy to recognize – a chubby gentleman with fair skin. Under his care, one of my cats recovered from an illness in just 2-3 days. Unfortunately, my other cat, who was handled by different staff members (I’m not sure if they were doctors or employees), didn’t survive. I truly believe my cat might have had a chance with the more experienced doctor.
